Niclas von Wyle was born in Bremtgarten (Argau) in 1410. After having undergone a scientific education in his home town and in Italy, he became a town writer in Radolfzell. Later, in 1445, he occupied the same position in Nuremberg and in Esslingen in 1449.
Niclas von Wyle is regarded as the first German-speaking translator of Italian Renaissance literature. Between 1461 and 1478 several works by Niclas von Wyle appeared in the Early High German language.
In 1469 von Wyle became the chancellor of Count Ulrich of Wurttemberg, retaining this position until his death in Stuttgart in 1478.
