Niclas von Wyle was born in Bremtgarten (Argau) in 1410. After having undergone a scientific education in his home town and in Italy, he became a town writer in Radolfzell. Later, in 1445, he occupied the same position in Nuremberg and in Esslingen in 1449.

In 1469 von Wyle became the chancellor of Count Ulrich of Wurttemberg, retaining this position until his death in Stuttgart in 1478.
